Oborevwori Charges Delta Tertiary Institutions on Employability, Research

Image
By Admin  Delta Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has challenged tertiary institutions in the state to move beyond producing certificate holders and focus on developing competent graduates, impactful research and solutions to societal challenges.  The State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, gave the charge on behalf of Governor Oborevwori while delivering a lecture titled, “Repositioning Tertiary Institutions for National Development and Institutional Responsibilities,” at the 3rd Delta State Higher Education Summit.  He said Delta had witnessed remarkable expansion in tertiary education, with four state-owned universities, three polytechnics and two colleges of education, alongside federal and private institutions operating across the state.  According to him, student enrolment in state-owned tertiary institutions has risen from slightly above 50,000 in 2023 to more than 100,000, while the Oborevwori administration ...

Oborevwori’s Achievements Beyond Opposition’s Attack — Aniagwu

Image
By Admin  Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, has said the achievements of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration are too visible and verifiable to be diminished by opposition narratives ahead of the 2027 general elections. Aniagwu stated this while featuring on ARISE NEWS on Sunday, where he spoke on political activities in the state, recent clashes between rival political groups, security concerns and criticisms of the administration. He said the government’s record in infrastructure, workers’ welfare, social intervention, economic management and development across the state provided Deltans with sufficient evidence to assess its performance. The commissioner said opposition politicians had been unable to sustain their criticism of the administration’s performance because the projects and programmes of the government were visible across the state. “Have you seen any one of them say Governor Oborevwori is n...

2027: Oborevwori Will Campaign on Performance, Not Propaganda — Aniagwu

Image
By Admin  Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration will approach the 2027 general elections with its record of performance, rather than propaganda or political mudslinging. Aniagwu, who spoke during an interview on News Central Television on Saturday, said the administration’s achievements across infrastructure, education, healthcare, empowerment and other sectors constituted its “report card” before the people. He said those unable to engage the administration on the strength of its performance were resorting to narratives aimed at distracting the public from the issues of development. According to him, “when you cannot engage the governor on the strength of his performance and you cannot tell stories that are contrary to facts on ground, you want to look for other stories to tell that could possibly make you begin to have certain level of sympathy. Those theories...

Oborevwori: Truth, half truth, outright lies

Image
By Felix Ofou  Beyond road infrastructure, flyovers and bridges, Delta State, under the watchful eyes of the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has recorded significant milestones in other areas. This has made life easier for the citizens even as the state is ranked as the second best governed in Nigeria by the Commonwealth Institute of Advanced Professional Studies (CIAPS) based in the UK. Whereas some would rather believe that Oborevwori has excelled in turning the state into a huge construction site, those same people think that is all there is to what is happening in Delta. Obviously, such critics only view Delta from a very narrow prism. They choose to ignore the big picture. Indeed, so much has happened since Governor Oborevwori took over the reins of office on May 29, 2023. He has rewritten the economic template and turned Delta to one of the fifth largest in Nigeria, while reducing the state's debt burden from N465 billion to less than N150 billion in three ...
