The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips, has embarked on a familiarisation tour of the Ughelli Area Command, during which he paid a courtesy visit to the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Wilson Ojakovo, Oharisi III, and held meetings with community stakeholders and police officers.

The visit was aimed at strengthening police-community relations, enhancing security collaboration and assessing policing activities within the area.

At the royal palace, CP Erale paid homage to the traditional ruler and solicited his prayers, counsel and continued support in the fight against crime. He expressed concern over the growing security challenges associated with cultism, drug abuse and sexual offences, stressing the importance of credible and timely information from members of the public in tackling criminal activities.

The monarch, in his response, welcomed the Commissioner of Police and assured him of the traditional institution's continued cooperation and support for the Police, particularly during the ember months and the forthcoming electioneering period.

Traditional rulers from neighbouring communities in Delta State were also present during the royal visit.

Speaking at a stakeholders' meeting, the Commissioner of Police described security as a collective responsibility and called on community leaders, residents and other stakeholders to support the Police with credible intelligence that would assist in preventing and combating crime.

He reaffirmed the Command's commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property, while strengthening trust and cooperation between the Police and members of the public.

Addressing officers and men of the Ughelli Area Command, CP Erale charged them to remain vigilant, intensify intelligence-led policing and demonstrate professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

He particularly warned against extortion, unlawful arrests and violations of citizens' human rights, emphasizing that the Command would not tolerate any form of police misconduct.

The Commissioner reiterated the need for discipline, accountability and respect for the rule of law, urging officers to remain committed to their responsibilities and uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force.

The visit underscores the Delta State Police Command's commitment to strengthening operational effectiveness and fostering greater collaboration with traditional institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders in maintaining peace and security across the state.
