SUBEB, UBEC Begin Training for Desk Officers on Greening Schools Initiative on Tuesday

Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, in partnership with the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, is to train Greening Schools and Climate Change Initiative, GSCCI, Desk Officers from the 25 Local Government Education Authorities in the state.

The two-day state-level step-down training and sensitization programme will hold on Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the SUBEB Conference Hall in Asaba.

Executive Chairman of Delta SUBEB, Hon. (Barr.) Samuel O. Mariere in a statement, said the training will also involve Delta SUBEB Special Programme Officers.

Hon Mariere explained that GSCCI is a strategic programme aimed at promoting environmental sustainability in basic education through climate change awareness and environmentally responsible practices.

According to him, the training will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to coordinate, supervise, monitor and drive the implementation of the initiative in schools across the 25 LGEAs.

The Subeb Boss added that participants will cascade the training to stakeholders in their respective LGEAs to ensure effective implementation.

The theme of the training is "Enhancing the Implementation of Climate Change and Greening Curricular".

The SUBEB Chairman urged all invited participants to attend promptly and be seated before 10:00 a.m. each day.

DOU to graduate 416 students, records 25 first class , set for maiden convocation

By Andy Emephia A total of 416 candidates drawn from 28 programmes in the Faculties of Agriculture , Arts , Behavioural Sciences, Computing , Environmental Sciences , Management Sciences and Sciences, will participate in the maiden convocation of the Dennis Osadebay University ( DOU) , Asaba , on Saturday 7th March , 2026.
