Odebala affirms support for Delta NDC Guber Candidate , Iyovwaye, Omo Agege , other party candidates, despite approaching court to reclaim mandate

The Bible says, “Love your neighbour as yourself.” This means that the love we have for ourselves should also be extended to others. It is in this spirit that I extend my love, respect and support to everyone, including my brothers, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Dcn. Chris Iyovwaye.

The recent political developments, particularly my decision to approach the court to seek legal redress over the NDC governorship primaries, should not be interpreted as a quarrel with anyone, nor should it be seen as a fight against our great party, the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

My desire to become Governor of Delta State did not begin with the 2027 political process. I have nursed this ambition since 2005, during the administration of my leader, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, and I have consistently pursued it without success.

Therefore, whenever there is a legitimate flicker of hope that I can achieve this long-held ambition, I owe it to myself to explore it to its logical conclusion. I do not want to sit down in my old age and regret that there was something lawful and legitimate I could have done to pursue my dream, but failed to do.

Going to court is not fighting anybody. Seeking justice is not an act of hostility.

For now, I remain committed to campaigning for the victory of the NDC and its candidates—from our Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, to our Governorship Candidate, Dcn. Chris Iyovwaye, our Senatorial Candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and all other NDC candidates.

However, if at the end of the judicial process the court determines that I am the rightful governorship candidate, I believe every loyal member of the NDC, including those mentioned above, will equally support me to become Governor of Delta State.

There is no division in the NDC. What exists is healthy democratic competition and the legitimate pursuit of a just, fair and fulfilling process.

Our party itself emerged through a legal process involving the courts. Therefore, seeking judicial interpretation or redress should never be regarded as an attack on the party. The courts remain an important institution for resolving disagreements and protecting rights within a democracy.

The Bible says, “Love your neighbour as yourself.” It never says, “Love your neighbour more than yourself.”

Therefore:

I support Peter Obi for President.

I support Dcn. Chris Iyovwaye for Governor — for now.

I support Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for Senate.

I support all NDC candidates.

And I will not stop legitimately pursuing my own ambition to become Governor of Delta State.

There is no contradiction in this. I can support others without abandoning myself.
