2027: Aniocha-Oshimili APC Stakeholders Mobilise Support for Tinubu, Oborevwori, Elumelu, Others

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Aniocha-Oshimili Federal Constituency of Delta State have commenced mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu and other party candidates.

The stakeholders declared their support at a sensitisation and empowerment meeting held in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on Wednesday.

The meeting brought together party leaders, stakeholders and supporters from the four local government areas that make up the constituency, with participants calling for unity, reconciliation and a stronger grassroots mobilisation structure ahead of the elections.

Addressing the gathering, the State Coordinator of Renewed Hope for More Agenda, Rt. Hon. Solomon Funkekeme, urged party supporters to return to their communities and intensify efforts to persuade voters to support the APC.

Funkekeme described the participants as “ambassadors” of the party, charging them to educate voters on the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.

He said the APC administration inherited a difficult economic situation, with several states and local governments facing challenges in meeting their salary obligations and the country burdened by substantial debts.

He also defended the removal of the petrol subsidy by the Federal Government, alleging that the previous subsidy regime had been exploited by individuals.

“What is Tinubu’s offence? His offence is that he stopped people from stealing money,” Funkekeme said.

He cited the student loan scheme among the administration’s reforms, saying it had provided additional financial support for Nigerian students to meet tuition and other educational expenses.

Funkekeme further argued that continued support for the APC at the federal and state levels would enhance Delta State’s access to federal appointments, projects and other opportunities.

According to him, APC lawmakers from Delta State would be better positioned to attract federal projects and influence government decisions when working with a President from the same political party.

“If you want to vote for an ordinary lawmaker, he will not do so much for you. But he will do more if he holds a key position. It can only happen if his party’s president is the President,” he said.

He commended the Oborevwori administration and expressed optimism that the governor could achieve more with stronger political cooperation between the state and federal governments.

Funkekeme also urged APC supporters to reach out to undecided voters and persuade them to support the party.

“Our task is to engage people, convince them, convert them. That’s our task,” he said.

He criticised opposition politicians, including Peter Obi, over their opposition to some of the Tinubu administration’s policies, alleging that certain interests were resisting the reforms because of their impact on established businesses.

Funkekeme urged supporters to return to their respective communities as “ambassadors, preachers and evangelists” of the APC and intensify grassroots mobilisation.

Also speaking, the Delta State APC Chairman, Hon. Solomon Arenyeka, called on party members to remain united and committed to the ideals of the APC.

Arenyeka urged stakeholders to take the party’s message to every ward and polling unit, stressing that unity and discipline would be critical to securing victory in 2027.

In his goodwill message, former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and APC chieftain, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, commended the stakeholders for their commitment and turnout.

Elumelu called for greater synergy among party leaders and stakeholders, saying the APC in Aniocha-Oshimili must present a united front ahead of the elections.

He also expressed support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and assured the gathering that the party would work to ensure that the people of Delta North benefited from the dividends of democracy.

Other speakers called for , more employment for the grassroots, greater inclusion of women and youths, and an aggressive membership drive across the four local government areas.
