Oborewvori Donates 18-Seater Toyota Hiace Bus to NUJ, Pledges Stronger Media Partnership

The Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborewvori, has donated a brand-new Toyota Hiace bus to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, in Asaba, describing the donation as a demonstration of the cordial relationship between his administration and the media.

Presenting the bus on behalf of the state governor, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, said the gesture was in recognition of the good relationship that had existed between the Oborewvori administration and the NUJ over the years.

He said, “This bus donation is to you for the use of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Council. This gesture is as a result of the good relationship that we have had over the years.”

The Governor expressed optimism that the donation would further strengthen the relationship between the government and the media, adding that it was ultimately aimed at promoting the interest and development of Delta State.

The Governor congratulated the NUJ on the acquisition and prayed that the gesture would contribute to a stronger partnership between the state government and journalists.

Responding on behalf of the Union, the Chairman of the Delta NUJ Council, Mr. Chuchill Oyowe, expressed appreciation to the Governor for fulfilling his promise, stressing that the presentation showed evidence of his commitment to keeping his word.

According to him, “We are most grateful. What the Governor has done today is a demonstration of the fact that he promises and he delivers. He made his promise and he has delivered.”

Oyowe noted that the donation went beyond the provision of a means of transportation, adding that the bus was brand-new and of a modern model.

He said, “We want to say a big thank you to His Excellency for this gesture. We do not take it for granted, and we believe that it will further cement our cordial working relationship.”

He also commended the Governor's developmental efforts in the state, saying his achievements were still unfolding and expressing optimism that more significant accomplishments would be recorded before the end of his tenure.

“Delta State would ultimately be in a position to look back and acknowledge the Governor as one who genuinely cared about their welfare and the development of the state.”

He reaffirmed the Union's commitment to maintaining a cordial relationship with the state government and said it cherished both the relationship and the gesture.

He prayed for continued strength and wisdom for the Governor to lead Delta State to greater heights and leave behind a legacy that would be appreciated by posterity.

The Chairman also thanked the Secretary to the State Government, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads),and Public Information, and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor for the support in making the donation come through.
