Technical Education Celebrates PS, Dr Gloria Ferife, for Outstanding Service in Grand Style

The Delta State Ministry of Technical Education on Wednesday celebrated Dr Gloria Ferife for her outstanding service and contributions as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry before her transfer to the Ministry of Health.

The celebration, which took place at the State Secretariat, attracted top management from both ministries, principals of technical colleges, friends, and family members.

In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Technical Education, Mr Smart Ufoh, described Dr Gloria Ferife as a highly professional, knowledgeable, and result-oriented administrator whose leadership significantly strengthened the ministry.

The Commissioner also commended her intelligence, sound judgement, and administrative competence, noting that her ability to coordinate key assignments enhanced the ministry's performance and public image.
"I discovered that she is highly knowledgeable, pragmatic, and an exceptional administrator. Her contributions ensured that the ministry carried out its responsibilities effectively, and I have no doubt that she will also excel in the Ministry of Health."

Hon. Ufoh appreciated the staff of the Ministry for sustaining a peaceful working environment and urged them to continue promoting teamwork and mutual respect to enhance productivity.

Speaking at the event, the new Permanent Secretary, who was recently deployed to the Ministry, Dr Anthony Okwunze, said the celebration ceremony was specifically organised to celebrate Dr Gloria Ferife and other retired officers transferred to other ministries.

He said, "This is a joyful occasion. We are celebrating Dr Gloria Ferife, who has been transferred to continue serving in another ministry, and those who have successfully completed their years of service and retired honourably."
In her response to the kind gesture, Dr Gloria Ferife expressed gratitude to the Ministry for organising a farewell ceremony in her honour, saying the gesture was uncommon.

She said, "Permanent Secretaries are rarely celebrated when transferred from one ministry to another," and thanked the leadership and staff for the recognition.

"I came into the ministry without knowing much about technical education, but the directors, staff, and principals welcomed me warmly and taught me everything I needed to know. Whatever we achieved was a collective effort."

She also appreciated the cordial working relationship she enjoyed with the Commissioner, stressing that it was built on mutual understanding and a shared commitment to the ministry's success.

The highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of gifts and tributes to retiring officers and transferred staff members in recognition of their dedicated service and contributions to the growth of the ministry.
