Delta Prioritises Job Creation, Skills Acquisition for Youths

The Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Barr. Oyinkuro Dave Enodeh , has reaffirmed the state government's commitment to tackling youth unemployment by prioritising job creation, skills acquisition, and youth empowerment across the state.

Enodeh disclosed this during an interview with journalists in Asaba after assuming office.

Enodeh noted that his administration would focus on programmes that equip young people with practical and digital skills, promote entrepreneurship, and create sustainable employment opportunities.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the ministry, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in him through dedicated service and the effective implementation of youth-focused policies.

He emphasised that the best way to reciprocate the governor's trust was by ensuring that government programmes for young people deliver tangible and measurable results.

Commenting on the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, the commissioner praised the impressive participation of youths across the state while urging them to remain actively involved in the democratic process.

He said, "Young people make up a significant portion of the electorate and have a vital role in shaping the future of both the state and the nation."

Addressing unemployment, he said the state government would intensify efforts to create jobs, support entrepreneurship, expand skills acquisition programmes, and embrace digital innovation to prepare youths for opportunities in the modern economy.

He explained that youth development remains a key pillar of Governor Oborevwori's MORE Agenda, adding that the administration is committed to ensuring that programmes targeted at empowering young people receive the attention and resources they deserve.

"The focus of this government is not politics but the welfare of young people. The state government is committed to creating jobs, promoting skills acquisition, providing training, and empowering youths to become productive members of society,"

The commissioner added that plans were underway to introduce new initiatives that would provide young people with the practical skills and technological knowledge needed to compete in today's digital economy.

"The state government, through the Ministry, will continue to engage young people, bring them closer, and involve them in programmes that will positively shape their future."
