Delta Assembly Confirms Moses Emokiniovo Ogodo as Commissioner, Adopts Public Accounts Report

The Delta State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the nomination of Mr. Moses Emokiniovo Ogodo for appointment as a Commissioner and Member of the State Executive Council.

The confirmation took place during Tuesday's plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, after the House dissolved into the Committee of the Whole to conduct the screening exercise. Following a successful screening, lawmakers unanimously approved the nomination through a voice vote.

Congratulating the nominee, the Speaker urged Mr. Ogodo to discharge his responsibilities with diligence, uphold accountability, and contribute meaningfully to the implementation of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori's MORE Agenda for the continued development of Delta State.

Also during the plenary, the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts and Member representing Okpe State Constituency, Hon. Dr. James Augoye, presented the committee's report on the State Auditor-General's Report on the Accounts of the Delta State Government for the 2025 fiscal year.

Presenting the report, Hon. Augoye highlighted the committee's observations, findings, and recommendations, including the full configuration and implementation of the accounting system introduced by the Office of the Accountant-General to strengthen transparency and accountability in public financial management.

The Leader of the House, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi Ph D., subsequently moved a motion for the consideration and adoption of the committee's report. The motion was seconded by the Member representing Ndokwa West State Constituency, Hon. Charles Chukuemeke Emetulu.

Lawmakers who contributed to the debate commended the Public Accounts Committee for its thorough work and described the report as a crucial instrument for promoting fiscal discipline, accountability, and good governance across the state.

The House unanimously adopted the report, with the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, praising the committee for what he described as a job well done and encouraging the implementation of its recommendations in the interest of effective governance.
