The Faculty of Law, University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, hosted a successful Law Students Association (LAWSA) Dinner on Friday, 5th June 2026, at the Law Faculty, Owa Oyibu Campus. The event brought together students, faculty, and guests to celebrate academic achievement, leadership, and the legal profession’s role in society.
The annual Law Dinner serves a vital function in legal education worldwide. Beyond being a social gathering, it reinforces the values of advocacy, ethics, networking, and professional identity that underpin the practice of law. Such occasions provide students with the opportunity to engage with peers and faculty outside the lecture hall, fostering the collegiality and public service ethos expected of future legal practitioners.
At the dinner, Dr. Charles Olisa, a 300-level undergraduate in the Faculty of Law and Commissioner representing Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality on the Governing Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), was presented with the LAWSA University of Delta Chapter Award for Most Politically Accomplished Student Leader. The award recognises contributions to student leadership, advocacy, and engagement within the university community.
Dr. Olisa commended the Faculty of Law under the leadership of the Dean, Prof. Cecil Okubor, for the successful event and for the sustained progress and academic standards achieved under his tenure. He also expressed appreciation to LAWSA UNIDEL Chapter and its executive committee, led by Mr. Nwosu Emmanuel Ebube, President, LAWSA UNIDEL Chapter.
“I am deeply honoured by this recognition,” Dr. Olisa stated. “The Law Dinner embodies the spirit of the legal profession: collegiality, service, and commitment to justice. With the Second Semester Examinations commencing 22nd June 2026 and ending 17th July 2026, this award will spur me to higher standards of excellence as I progress to 400-level Law.”
The Faculty of Law, UNIDEL, continues to position itself as a centre of legal education and leadership development in Nigeria.
