... Ezewezie Orders Increased Security Presence,Direct Investigation Into Origin of False Alarm

The attention of the Oshimili North Local Government has been drawn to the disturbing rumour making the rounds within Ibusa community alleging that armed bandits had infiltrated one of the public schools with the intention of kidnapping students.

The Local Government wishes to categorically state that following an immediate investigation by the relevant security agencies, no evidence whatsoever has been found to substantiate this claim. The report has, therefore, been confirmed as false and misleading.

While we appreciate the genuine concern shown by parents and guardians who rushed to schools to ensure the safety of their children, we respectfully urge members of the public to remain calm, disregard the unfounded rumour, and continue with their normal daily activities without fear or panic.

The Executive Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government, Hon. Chief Innocent Ifeanyichukwu Esewezie, has, as a precautionary measure, directed all security operatives within the Local Government to intensify surveillance and maintain visible security presence around schools and strategic locations across Ibusa community. This proactive measure is aimed at reassuring residents and ensuring that our schools and communities remain safe and secure.

Furthermore, the Chairman has directed that the woman alleged to have originated or circulated the rumour be invited by the appropriate security authorities to provide useful information that will assist ongoing investigations and establish the true source of the false alarm. The Local Government believes that the deliberate spread of unverified information capable of causing public panic is unacceptable and should be discouraged.

We appeal to all residents to verify sensitive information through official government channels and recognised security agencies before sharing or acting upon it. The collective responsibility of maintaining peace and public order requires that we exercise restraint, vigilance, and responsible communication.

The Oshimili North Local Government remains fully committed to the safety, security, and welfare of every resident and will continue to work closely with all security agencies to safeguard our communities.

Together, let us remain vigilant, responsible, and united against misinformation.

-Austin Eloka Ajufo
Secretary, Oshimili North Local Government
