Lions District 404A4 Accreditation, Election Process Allegedly Jeopardized — Concerned Member

A concerned member of the Lions Clubs International District 404A4, who spoke on condition of anonymity, has alleged that the accreditation process ahead of the district’s general election for Saturday, May 2026, has been compromised and allegedly hijacked from the club presidents.

Speaking with journalists in Asaba at the Dome Event Centre, the Delta State capital, the member called for a transparent and credible process, insisting that all delegate forms submitted by club presidents must be obeyed and that every form of intimidation should stop.

He alleged that some individuals were manipulating the accreditation process in favour of their preferred candidates.

While assessing the accreditation process , he described the process as poor, and that delegates were short-changed ahead of the election.

He said, “As of now, the overall assessment is very poor because a system where delegates are being changed before the election raises serious concerns about the outcome,”

He further explained that Lions International has six districts, but the focus is on District 404A4, where two candidates are contesting.

“Though the election is to take place tomorrow, what we are witnessing now calls for concern”.

He also noted that the election is through a delegate system and not for everybody that votes. The number of delegates each club has depends on the number of members in that club”.

“The forms submitted by club presidents should be obeyed, and all forms of intimidation should stop”.

“Not until this happens, certainly. The election process has been jeopardized because it is not just the result that matters; the process itself is even more important”
