Delta SUBEB Launches Digital Attendance System to Boost Accountability in Public Primary Schools

The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, Tuesday launched a digital attendance monitoring system to strengthen accountability and raise education standards in public primary schools across Delta state.

The Secure Smart Attendance platform, under the “Delta Learn Attend360” programme, was unveiled at Uzoigwe Primary School, Asaba, by SUBEB Chairman, Hon Samuel Mariere, flanked by other members of the Board and management team of SUBEB.
Hon Mariere said the system replaces manual attendance registers with a centralized digital dashboard, allowing the Monitoring and Evaluation Department to verify staff presence in real time.

The Executive Chairman warned that staff not captured on the digital register by the end of the week would no longer be recognized as SUBEB personnel.

He added that staff on annual vacation or sick leave, must complete biometric registration immediately as no excuses would be accepted after the deadline.
“We’ve gone fully digital. Attendance is now tracked in real time on a central dashboard, so there’s no need for manual registers.

“The government is determined to ensure only properly verified personnel remain in the school system”, the Subeb Boss said.

Hon Mariere, a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, urged teachers, administrators, and stakeholders to support the programme as education benefits every family in the state.

Managing Consultant of Schoolville Limited, Charles Omordia, said the platform tracks attendance at least three times daily and generates daily and monthly reports.
He stated that Teachers can also view their records, respond to queries, and submit complaints through the app, adding that the Nigerian-built software uses geofencing to confirm staff are on school premises before logging attendance, including a security alert feature for emergencies.

Head Teacher of Uzoigwe Primary School, Enamati Martina, commended the state government for modernizing school administration.

She said “This initiative moves teachers from analogue to digital. The digital clocking process will improve accountability and efficiency”, pledging full staff commitment.
The Managing Consultant Omordia later led the Subeb team on an inspection of the control room, demonstrating how the system provides real-time feedback from schools statewide.
