Basil Ganagana Defeats Nicholas Mutu in Landslide to Secure APC Ticket for Bomadi/Patani Constituency

With a massive 14,000 and more votes to Hon. Nicholas Mutu's trailing 1,093 votes, the Returning Officer for the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency Primaries and Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Okenmor Tilije, declared one time Speaker of the Delta House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana, the emphatic winner of the Saturday, May 16, 2026, primaries.

Tilije, in his speech at the Bomadi Town Hall in Bomadi Local Government Area , venue of the Federal Constituency collation , also announced that Priye Okaba got a total votes cast of 609 while Dr Chris Ekiyor garnered 237 votes to place third and fourth , respectively .

With this victory , the federal Constituency Returning Officer stated, Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana is now the All Progressives Congress ( APC) standard bearer for the Bomadi/Patani constituency 2027 elections.

The landslide victory of Ganagana over incumbent Hon. Mutu puts to an end , the seventh term in office of the Federal lawmaker who has been representing the area since 1999.

The event was witnessed by the Bomadi and Patani LGA returning officers, the INEC representatives , party stakeholders , agents of the aspirants as well as enthusiastic members of the constituency .
