SHOCK: Akpabio Confirms Creation Of Anioma State, Asaba To Be Headquarters

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has confirmed Asaba will be the headquarters of Anioma State, while the Delta State capital will be in Warri.

The Senate President gave the confirmation during the APC South South Zonal Congress held in Asaba, Delta State.

Senator Akpabio said the Anioma state will broaden efforts to restructure representation in Nigeria’s South-East geopolitical zone.

He noted that the proposed Anioma State will be created out of Delta State, that Warri will be the capital of Delta State, and that Asaba would serve as the capital of the new Anioma State.

The Senate President added that the initiative is already in motion, noting that it could enhance governance and representation across the affected regions.

By Andy Emephia A total of 416 candidates drawn from 28 programmes in the Faculties of Agriculture , Arts , Behavioural Sciences, Computing , Environmental Sciences , Management Sciences and Sciences, will participate in the maiden convocation of the Dennis Osadebay University ( DOU) , Asaba , on Saturday 7th March , 2026. Of this number , 25 persons bagged First Class Honours , 167 Second Class Honours ( Upper Division), 185 Second Class Lower Division, and 39 Third Class Degrees, respectively  .
