Oborevwori Remains Passionate, Responsive To Concerns Of Ndokwa Nation, Anoka

The Honourable Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Michael Anoka has assured the Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality that the state Governor, Sheriff Oborewvori, is passionate and responsive to their concerns of stable power supply.


Engr. Anoka, gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by members of the Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU) in his office, at the state secretariat in Asaba.

Speaking at the event, the Hon. Commissioner said the present administration of Sheriff Oborevwori is working tirelessly under the new Electricity Act to reposition the state’s power sector.

Anoka explained that Delta possesses vast capacity to generate electricity and is determined to harness it for sustainable development.

The commissioner referenced the Okpai Independent Power Plant as a strategic federal facility located in the state.

According to him, "the state government is collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure residents benefit directly from available power assets."

Anoko commended the Governor for approving critical projects and releasing funds to strengthen electricity infrastructure across the state.

Anoka stressed that Governor Oborevwori remains passionate about stable power supply and responsive to the concerns of the Ndokwa people.

He assured the delegation that the government would consider mechanisms to step down power from the Okpai plant to host communities.

Earlier, the President-General of the Ndokwa Neku Union, Mr.Amechi Asuguni , thanked the commissioner for granting the audience despite his tight schedule.

He also appreciated Governor Oborevwori for appointing Michael Anoka as Commissioner for Energy.

The union leader lamented the persistent blackout in Ndokwa land despite hosting one of the country’s largest independent power plants.

He appealed to the state government to urgently address the paradox of darkness in a region that produces significant electricity for the nation.

The visit ended with renewed optimism that concrete steps will soon be taken to improve power supply in Ndokwa communities and the state at large.
