The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) is set for another round of a 5-day capacity building workshop for 300 newly employed Mathematics and Science Teachers across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state.
The training is being organized by Subeb in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Federal Ministry of Education, and Delta State Government.
The initiative is a specialized training programme aimed at improving the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Science at the Basic Education level using Activities, Student, Experiments and Improvisation, (ASEI) and Plan, Do, See and Improve, (PDSI) approach.
Executive Chairman of Delta SUBEB, Hon Barr. Samuel Mariere and the Director, Teacher Development Department, SUBEB, Mrs. Eru Ezefili, in a joint statement, said urged nominees for the workshop to attend with their Android phones, science lab coat, and NIN slip.
The statement added that the training is residential and will run from Monday February 16 to Friday February 20, 2026, at Anglican Girls Grammar School, Ughelli, with the theme "Attitudinal Change in the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Science".
The statement reads “Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), in collaboration with Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC), the Federal Ministry of Education and the Delta State Government is organizing a 5-day capacity building workshop on Strengthening Mathematics and Science Education (SMASE), State In-Service Education and Training (INSET) cycle 1, for 300 newly employed Mathematics and Science Teachers across the 25 LGAs of Delta State.
“This initiative is a specialized training programme aimed at improving the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Science at the Basic Education level using Activities, Student, Experiments and Improvisation, (ASEI) and Plan, Do, See and Improve, (PDSI) approach.
“The training emphasis is on the paradigm shift from the traditional teaching methods to a modern approach in which learners are actively involved in the teaching and learning process of mathematics and science.
The training with the theme “Attitudinal Change in the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Science, is *Residential* and scheduled for Monday 16th to Friday 20th February 2026 at the Anglican Girls Grammar School, Ughelli, Ughelli North local government area, Delta State, between 8am to 5pm daily.
“All nominees are requested to attend the training with their Android phones, science lab coat and NIN slip”, the statement added.
