Issele-Uku Diocese Get Interim Diocesan Executive Of Urhobo Catholic Community

History was made at St. John Mary Vianney Catholic Church, Asaba, during its maiden Urhobo Cultural Day celebration, which also served as a momentous occasion to welcome His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Ovayero Ewherido, the Bishop of Warri Diocese, to the Asaba region for the first time since his inauguration.
The event, held recently, drew a distinguished gathering of Urhobo, Isoko, Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Ndokwa indigenes from various Catholic parishes within the Issele-Uku Diocese, underscoring the unity and cultural pride of the communities.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the National Executive Council of the Urhobo Catholic Community of Nigeria, led by National President Mr. Richard Onojaikreh. In his address, Mr. Onojaikreh emphasized the crucial role of the Urhobo Catholic Community in the church's development and advocated for the establishment of the body within the Issele-Uku Diocese.
This call to action was a highlight of the day, reflecting the community's commitment to strengthening its presence and influence within the church.
A significant part of the day was the inauguration of the newly appointed officials for the Urhobo Catholic Community in the Issele-Uku Diocese. The appointees include Mr. Godwin Oziboro as President, Sir. Joseph Evwierhoma as Vice President, and Mr. Augustine Akanigha as Secretary. Other key positions were filled by Mr. Paul Itawasah as Treasurer, Dr. Wilson Louis Oghenekevwe as PRO, and Mr. Matthew Ibehre as Financial Secretary. The inauguration, conducted by His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Ewherido, marked a pivotal moment, officially establishing the community's leadership in the diocese and setting the stage for future endeavors.
A copy of the Urhobo Catholic Community Constitution was also presented to the interim executive by the National President, solidifying the framework for the community's operations and guiding its objectives.
