Issele-Uku Catholic Diocese: Bishop Elue Charges Urhobo Catholic Community To Unity

His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Odogwu Elue, Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku, has charged the newly constituted Urhobo National Catholic Community of Issele-Uku Diocese executive to unity, adherence to Church authority, and the embodiment of Catholic values.
The Bishop gave this charge during a reception for the executive at his Bishop Court in Issele-Uku.
Bishop Elue emphasized the importance of avoiding the politicization of the group, urging the leadership to follow the guidelines of the Catholic Church, particularly within the context of the Issele-Uku Diocese.
He applauded the Diocesan body, led by Mr. Godwin Okiemute Oziboro, as a welcome development for the diocese.
Earlier, Mr. Oziboro, the Diocesan President, presented his address to His Lordship, explaining that the visit followed the inauguration of the interim executive on December 7, 2025, by His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Ovayero Ewherido, Bishop of Warri Diocese, at St. John Mary Vianney Catholic Church Asaba.
The visit was deemed necessary to pay filial respect to the Chief Shepherd, seek his blessing, and reaffirm their loyalty to the Church's teachings and leadership. Mr. Oziboro, accompanied by the Diocesan Secretary, Mr. Augustine Akanigha, and other key members including Mr. Peter Itawansa, Treasurer; Mr. Matthew Ibehre, Financial Secretary; and Dr. Wilson Oghenekevwe, PRO, emphasized the Urhobo Diocesan's commitment to the faith and its mission to promote unity, deepen spiritual lives, and support the diocese's evangelical efforts.
Mr. Oziboro expressed gratitude for the Bishop's support, assuring that the interim leadership would serve with humility, transparency, and a focus on harmony, guided by the teachings of Christ. And on behalf of the Issele-Uku Diocese of the Urhobo Catholic Community, pledged to collaborate with the diocese in pastoral work, social development, and evangelization.
