The Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, has approved free Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) enrollment for all SS3 students in public secondary schools across Bomadi LGA.
The Chairman made this announcement while receiving members of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) in his office at the Bomadi Council Secretariat. He disclosed that the decision to fully sponsor the SSCE registration—either WAEC or NECO—for all promoted SS3 students was a personal initiative driven by compassion and commitment to education.
Hon. Andaye explained that the policy was informed by his personal life experience, noting that he understands the financial challenges faced by parents and guardians, especially during this difficult economic period.
“I am a product of the streets and a very humble background. I know how difficult it is for parents and guardians to raise money for SSCE enrollment at this time of the year,” he said.
He noted that the gesture aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Delta State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, emphasizing that education remains a key pillar of sustainable development.
According to him, the intervention will bring great relief to parents and guardians, particularly those in rural communities who are battling with the current economic realities.
“I experienced it firsthand. It was purely the grace of God that saw me through my education. You, as school principals, carry a great responsibility because the future of these students lies in your hands,” he stated.
Hon. Andaye further stressed that education is not limited to acquiring a university degree alone but begins from the early stages of life, where the character, values, and discipline of children are molded to positively impact society.
“Education is about shaping lives from the foundation. What a child becomes tomorrow reflects what he or she learns today and how well that learning is guided,” he added.
He concluded by announcing that all students promoted to SS3 in public secondary schools within Bomadi LGA will benefit from free enrollment for one SSCE examination (WAEC or NECO), describing the initiative as an investment in the future of the local government.
The ANCOPSS delegation commended the Chairman for his people-oriented leadership and described the initiative as timely, impactful, and unprecedented in the history of the council.
