Uniben Alumni Association To Honour Dr. Ann Izi With Distinguished Alumni Award

The University of Benin Alumni Association is set to confer a prestigious Distinguished Alumni Award on Hon. Dr. Princess Ann Izi, a renowned Maritime Specialist, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to society and nation-building.

In a goodwill message, Engr (Amb) Ibrahim Umar, Chairman of the UNIBEN Alumni Association, commended Dr. Izi's hard work, integrity, and achievements, which have brought pride to the University of Benin and its Abuja branch. Notably, Dr. Izi pioneered the introduction of maritime educational programs and training in Nigerian universities, marking a significant milestone in academic innovation.

The Distinguished Alumni Award ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Indoor Sports Hall, Sports Complex, UNIBEN Ugbowo Campus, at 2 pm, as part of the 2025 Global Homecoming celebrations of the University of Benin Alumni Association Worldwide.

According to a goodwill message endorsed by the UNIBEN Alumni Association Chairman, Engr ( Amb) Ibrahim Umar, the Special Guest of Honour, Honourable Minister for Regional Development, H.E Alhaji Abubakar Momoh will be honoured, and amongst other awardees for excellence and outstanding contributions in their various endeavors."

DOU to graduate 416 students, records 25 first class , set for maiden convocation

By Andy Emephia A total of 416 candidates drawn from 28 programmes in the Faculties of Agriculture , Arts , Behavioural Sciences, Computing , Environmental Sciences , Management Sciences and Sciences, will participate in the maiden convocation of the Dennis Osadebay University ( DOU) , Asaba , on Saturday 7th March , 2026. Of this number , 25 persons bagged First Class Honours , 167 Second Class Honours ( Upper Division), 185 Second Class Lower Division, and 39 Third Class Degrees, respectively  .
