The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB) has revealed plan to build modern school infrastructure that will meet the needs of children in Delta.

The Chairman, Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Samuel Mariere disclosed this on Wednesday, 12, 2025, during the inter-ministry budget defense in Asaba.

Hon. Mariere expressed the commitment of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to ensuring that school children across the state get the best learning environment.

He said, "By the Grace of God, His Excellency is putting SUBEB on a strong footing for school children across the state to get the best learning environment. Also we are thinking of going more digital in our schools, and luckily we got a very favorable response from the ministry."

Mariere also hinted that the 2026 budget hopes to tackle those infrastructural challenges, saying the state governor expects better learning outcomes so that our children will be better.

On the national school sports competition, the chairman said it was ongoing and expressed the belief that Delta State would win at every stage.

"SUBEB budget is very massive, and it is not what you can talk of, because we are talking about teachers salaries. Teachers salaries alone could be about 3 billion naira , and you know SUBEB is also funded not only by the state but also by the federal government and state and local governments. It is not a budget that we can give; we present our budget in different areas.”
