Anoka, Stakeholders Meet To Chat Path In Urban Renewal Plan In Cable Point

Delta State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Renewal, Engr. Ifeanyi Anoka has unveiled and provided an opportunity for residents of Cable Point, Asaba to bare their minds and ideas for the production of the Cable Point Urban Renewal Plan.

The ceremony, tagged “Delta State Urban Forum for Cable Point, Asaba," took place on Tuesday at Cable Point, Asaba, Delta State Capital.

Speaking at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Renewal, Engr. Anoka expressed gratitude to the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for his giant developmental stride in the urban and physical planning with the urban forum initiative.
The Commissioner noted that “the choice of Cable Point was informed out of love by the state Governor in line with the  MORE Agenda to transform Delta State.

Anoka  explained that Cable Point  is loaded with  huge potential and natural blessings  that can be harnessed to completely transform it.

He said, “Let me emphasize that all  you suggested will be listed and prioritized. All suggestions are noted, and the government will leave here armed with the knowledge of what you need for inclusive development.”

He continued, “This is a serious enterprise because in this ministry, we do not plan for but we plan with the people, the owners/inhabitants of an area.”
The Commissioner  added that “the goal here is that what will emerge as the Cable Point Urban Renewal Plan will be what you all can claim as your own. You are expected to name or suggest what type of projects, infrastructure/facility, or amenity that should be provided that can transform or upgrade your neighborhoods physically, economically, and socially.”

The Honourable Commissioner was
accompanied by the PS, Dr. (Mrs.) Charity Ehimen.

In attendance at the event are the chairman of the Oshimili South Local Government Area, Dr. Kelvin Ezeyinli; the chairman of the Delta State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Auwalu Tukur; Councillor representing Ward 13, Hon. Jibrin Audu; Rep. of Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Idivisi Kuta; and ethnic associations of Arewa, Igbo, Yoruba, and Igala residents in Cable Point, Asaba.

Other groups include the Cable Community Development Association, Cable Dynamic Youth Organization, Cable Market Union, Cable Rainbow Coalition, Cable Flying Boat Union, The Jews Club, Oshimili South Marshals (wards 10 and 11), Ogbueshi Wing, Cable Point Barbers Associations, and Asaba Community Youths in Cable Point, Asaba.

Some of the projects suggested by Cable Point residents included drainages, internal roads, streetlights, hospital, borehole, shoreline protection, and police presences.

DOU to graduate 416 students, records 25 first class , set for maiden convocation
